Perhaps many people, upon seeing today’s headline, have many questions in their minds about what anime could have been banned in Japan as well.
Indeed, Japan, being an anime kingdom, is generally quite tolerant of anime creation. However, for various sensitive reasons, some content may indeed be banned or abruptly concluded.
Take, for example, the anime we’re discussing today: Terror in Tokyo

Bringing up this anime reminds me of how unforgettable it is. The raw and unfiltered portrayal of grief and sorrow left me with a profound emotional impact while watching it.
That sounds like a good idea. Focusing solely on discussing the anime’s content can provide a more enriching conversation.
NINE and TWELVE’s names are indeed unique and easy to remember. I imagine their names might be related to their background stories.

The 26 children, including NINE and TWELVE, were victims of a project called the Athena Plan, which aimed to create individuals with extraordinary abilities through drug intervention.
But, as history has shown time and again, those who carry out such plans are often driven by self-indulgent fanaticism. These plans invariably end in failure, accompanied by the sacrifice of one victim after another.
And among them, NINE and TWELVE were the fortunate ones who managed to escape from the experimental facility.

Does escaping guarantee they can live well afterward?
Their bodies were already ravaged by drugs, like sieves, and their lives were spent, but they had one thing they wanted to accomplish in their limited time left: to expose this ugly plan to the public.
Such matters typically cannot be resolved through conventional means, especially given the immense power they were up against. In the end, they resorted to adopting the identities of Sphinx 1 and Sphinx 2, orchestrating incidents of terror across various locations to draw attention to their cause. Importantly, in their actions, they ensured that no casualties occurred.

Their core objective of garnering attention was indeed achieved. Shibazaki Kenjirou from the Metropolitan Police Department conducted a thorough investigation into the events based on the messages they released. There will always be those brave enough to approach the truth of a matter.
Due to the complexity of the networks involved, even if the truth is on the verge of being revealed, the ultimate result is that only a very few will remember the incident, and the two main characters are destined for a tragic end.

Let’s step back a bit. When the two main characters first appeared, they enrolled in a local middle school to conceal their identities effectively. It was here that they met the female lead of the story, Mishima Risa.
Mishima’s appearance is very cute, but for various reasons, she struggles with handling issues in both her family and school relationships.
Her parents are divorced, and her mother, feeling abandoned by her father, showers her with excessive attention, bombarding her with various messages, which is very distressing for Mishima. She is also not well-liked by her classmates at school, and she has no one to turn to for help even when facing bullying on campus.

Here, I’d like to emphasize that everyone should cherish their family. The biggest victims of a broken family are undoubtedly the children. Also, if you are experiencing bullying at school, please be brave enough to say no. Bullying happens only once and countless times. The bullies are often cowards who prey on the weak and fear the strong!

Returning to the plot, the encounter between Misaki and the two main characters marked a turning point in her fate. Despite her attempts to get closer to them, she wasn’t initially trusted by NINE, who was clearly cautious. However, a chance occurrence led her to become an accomplice to the two, making her a legitimate witness to their experiences.
The appearance of Misaki also served as a form of redemption for the two of them, especially for TWELVE. They had never been needed by this world, having been abandoned by their parents since childhood and later becoming dispensable experimental subjects handed over to the welfare institution.

For NINE, exposing the ugly truth of the Athena Plan to the world was his greatest obsession, but for TWELVE, it wasn’t entirely the same. His gaze was pure and innocent; their lives were never meant to be this way.
This anime ends abruptly with its 11th episode, and while it’s not perfect, the main storyline remains strong. It’s a thought-provoking piece of work that seems to convey a deeper message.
Understood! If you think this anime aligns with your interests, it’s definitely worth watching. Enjoy exploring it firsthand!
